He is a typical 4-year old…

whines to get his way

screams at his brother to get the upper hand

has his own opinions about his clothes, his eating habits, etc.

pretends he never wants to go to bed and is never tired (although miraculously still takes an afternoon nap everyday and will go to bed by 8 every evening)

talks and talks and talks and talks

asks a lot of "Why?"’s

is a speed demon on his bike (with no training wheels)

has the bump on his head to prove it (even 8 weeks later)

But when he sleeps…

I see those full lips and baby-like cheeks, and I always see that face that I looked at in the hospital the first time I met him.

I remember that he still likes to snuggle and hold my hand in public.

I am reminded how funny and smart and witty he is.

And how he makes me laugh out loud every day.

And I want to capture these moments because 4 and 1/2 years have flown by too fast.

So sweetly written — I feel the same way about Matthew.
And what is it about a sleeping child?

Oh, how sweet is that photo! You’ll never get over it. I remember the feelings so well of desperately needing children to go to sleep, only to look at your sweet faces resting/dreaming and feel the utter devotion and unconditional love of a mother. Enjoy. love ot you,
