  • Made SNOW CREAM for my boys and some neighbor boys. Ingredients: snow, milk, sugar, and vanilla! Results: yummy!

    What a day!

  • No school! So we’re out playing in our 6 inches of snow! It’s incredible. Snow fell yesterday for 20 hours. We’ll enjoy it while it lasts because it’s supposed to be back up to 40 degrees this weekend. Fun times in the neighborhood.

  • Look at that yummy goodness! Creamy chicken and mushroom soup with carrots, celery, potatoes, corn, and yellow squash.

    And it’s still snowing!!

  • Wow!! 4-6 inches of beautiful wet snow for us today!! Samuel and I are out running our errands and getting groceries to make a yummy soup tonight. The boys are at school but have been promised some “snow time” this afternoon.

We will carry on with our meeting tonight in the true pioneer spirit – we’ll see how the roads hold up.

I do believe that fresh snow might be the prettiest of God’s creations – next to babies, puppies, white sandy beaches and blue torquoise water.

  • How cute is this art project that Jacob did. And those look EXACTLY like his shoes. It shows him fishing off a pier – his favorite pastime. I’m thinking this one needs a frame!

    Jacob's shoes!

  • Working on Valentine’s with the guys – easy, peasy ones that I printed from a craft website. Jacob refuses to give the ones that say “super sweet” on them. He only allows ones that say “you’re cool” or “you rule” (and those are just barely allowed).

Had a fun lunch with my mom at her school today. When your Nana is a school principal, you get extra special attention from teachers and students, and Samuel was pretty cute about it all, even making friends with a 1st grader working on the computer (he tried to kiss him on the cheek – poor kid). It’s fun to see my mom in her world.

Snow tonight?! How fun – but it would really help if we could still have our trek committee meeting tomorrow – we’ll see.

  • Posting today from the allergist where I come once a week for torture (4 shots).
But today I discovered that insurance is no longer covering it 100% which makes it all the more torturous, and may put an end to my date with Jim the allergist. I’m a cheap date.

Big boys are at piano lessons.

Spent all of yesterday in meetings and part of today. My computer is acting up and my face is breaking out. Oh, dear…sounds like I need a big glass of cranberry limeade and a Jane Austen movie!

  • seen angels??

    I have.

They wear sweat pants and tennis shoes.

    And no make-up.

And they have their hair tied back.

And they carry around buckets of cleaners and dusters and brooms.

And they show up on your doorstep in the early morning (ok it was not that early, it was 9) when you're still in your robe.

And they insist that they are there to clean your house and put dinner in your crockpot (and they've already talked your husband into approving this action despite his hesitation) because they've seen how busy and overwhelmed you've been.

And even when you insist that they are NOT going to clean your house and that they should NOT be there at all (is that any way to talk to angels??), they smile and giggle and keep working.

And then when they leave there is something special left behind…more than just a clean house and a yummy, delicious dinner…

There is an overwhelming feeling of warmth…because you realize that you are loved and cared for and watched over…

    by angels.

  • Michael30

turned 30 in January (he's gonna love that I posted this goofy picture, btw)!  Not quite a baby anymore (technically only 4 years younger).  We celebrated with him at my Mom and Steve's.  Steve is a master on the grill with beef tenderloin – Jacob had two steaks by himself (can anyone say anemia?).  And Mom and Liv made some yummy sides.  It was fun to be together and celebrate this wonderful guy!
