• Apparently the Bassmaster Classic (the Olympics for fishing) is better than cartoons at our house. DVR’d episodes of shark week and Bassmasters = content boys. It would not surprise me if Jacob became a full-time angler.

  • This is my second time here today. The first time was with Samuel and I was #6 in line. That lasted all of 2.34 minutes. So I hosted my visiting teachers, fed Sam, put him down for a nap, and now I’m back (Derek is working at home).

Hoping to get some relief for what I’m guessing is a sinus infection.

  • When Jacob was just a little toddler we hosted Kay in our home for the first time. When he realized her name was Kay, he exclaimed “just like cake!!??!!”. And that’s what we’ve called her ever since. The name fits her – she’s as sweet as cake!

Samuel and I had lunch with her today at The Depot. I always love our time with her.

Added bonus – she bought me some cake for dessert!

  • All 3 are now dentistry patients. Wow!

  • I finally found my memory card reader and have downloaded some pictures.  And in going through them I'm realizing I haven't blogged about a couple of things…first off, the boys' trip to Utah.  Derek took Jacob and Caleb to ski and see his parents in Utah in January.  Before heading to Sandy they hiked Antelope Island and ate at The Garden restaurant (overlooking the Salt Lake temple).  On Saturday they spent time with the cousins and took Grandpa to the car show.  On Monday they skiied with Adrienne and Darrin and had a great time!  Check out the video of the boys skiing - they're pros!  Samuel and I made it through without them - but just barely.  So glad they can have that "guy" time though.

Apparently Caleb had never seen a "butter ball" and they all had some laughs about its purpose (see pic above).

  • Here I sit in the doctor's office. It's our typical Monday apptmt. This time we have a young friend with us – I'm helping his mom who has an apptmt today. For the SECOND week in a row, Samuel has pooped while I was back with the doctor (I visit with her briefly before Jacob goes back). Last week I was prepared with diapers and wipes in the car. This week, not so much. The dr had an extra diaper and some paper towels. Hallelujah!

I changed him on the bathroom counter only to find a blow-out! On his clothes. I come back to the waiting room to find that it was also on the couch! The horror! Forgive me if your squeamish about poop talk (I am) – unfortunately this is my current reality. It's all cleaned up now but the little girl and her mom who go after us refuse to come in the wait room because of the smell. I'd like to just shrink into a corner now and hibernate, wake me up when he's potty trained (which won't happen until after trek).

  • Homemade Oreo’s – one of my favorites!

Also on the menu tonite – pepper steak with rice. Last night was grilled salmon. Lovin’ the easy but yummy meals.

  • I want Mary Carillo’s job.

  • I love the Olympics. We DVR them and watch them on the nights that we can. I want Jacob to do snowboard cross and Caleb to do downhill. So inspiring…so fun to watch the athleticism. Bob Costas is our idea of fun around here.

I’m feeling mostly better today. Still headachey, but nothing full-blown thankfully.

Our Ma/Pa training was wonderful – what a neat bunch of people. There are 72 of them. And they are quality people – it’s fun for us to rub shoulders with them.

My mom and Steve graciously took the kids for 5 hours this morning – they went to breakfast and had adventures at the Bass Pro Shop (which included face paint).

My house is a wreck, but we are well and happy, so I can’t complain.

  • Notice the cool bubble in the glass – it is fizzing as I type. I hate how this stuff tastes, but it has been proven effective in times past, and I need effective. I dissolve it in soda to try to mask the taste. Feeling like my head has been run over by a freight train and I’m chilled to the bone. Lots of work to do tonight for tomorrow’s Ma/Pa Training. Come on, Airborne, do your thing.
