• Ok – I'm back!  I have lots to blog about!!  But, first, I have to clean the kitchen and babysit some friends' kids and figure out how to work my new washer and dryer (more on that later).

But first…I LOVE this…makes me laugh (thanks, Steve, for the link) (and, Marlys, beware it has a cupcake in it):

  • I’m making 100 cupcakes this morning for the trek reunion dinner. Chocolate cake (the best recipe I’ve ever tried) with peanut butter frosting. Wish me luck!

  • Last night Caleb went as my date to a friend’s (Maryann Labrum Hadley) wedding Open House. Before leaving Derek told him to “take care of my wife”, which Caleb took very seriously. In fact in the car he told me…”when I serve you it’s like I’m also serving Dad and when I serve others it’s like I’m serving God”.

We held hands and ate lots if sweets. And he was patient as I visited with old friends. And we went to see the swans at sunset.

I have promised him I will let him pick our next date (a baseball game is the request), because I think he was a little disappointed when we went home after an hour. But I sure did enjoy his company.

  • Me:  Ok, buddy, let's head to bed (as we walk up the stairs).

Samuel:  No, it's not dark outside!  It's only pink.

Isn't that a cute way to describe sunset.  And he was right – a pink hue was coming through our windows indicating that the sun was going down.  It was a good argument, but I still put him to bed. 🙂

  • Look who got to be Biscuit the dog at the school carnival today! And boy howdy do I have a new appreciation for mascots! So hot. So very hot!
But the hugs, high fives, and photo ops make it worth it.
    Another day in the life…
    I need a shower!

  • Fold some laundry and clean the kitchen.  And smile because my sinks are empty and shiny (for a brief moment).

Take Samuel to the neighborhood playgroup…I'm getting to know these sweet mom's and enjoying the company and time to relax and encourage play among the children.  I hesitate to RSVP every week (because by Friday I'm usually tired and my house is messy!), but am always glad when I do.  Today they did sand art – our host, Jamie, colored sand with food coloring!

Feed Samuel and put him down for his nap.

Head over to count baseball ticket sales at the school.

Drive ticket orders to another school.

Work at the bookfair at the school (I love working the cash register – it's so fun!  And being in a room full of new books makes me happy).

Head home to meet with a pool guy with Derek.

Enjoy a dinner out at On the Border with my gang – we sat on the patio in the loveliest warm (but not hot) weather.

Go to a baby shower and celebrate a friend who's having her sixth baby – what a treat!

Some more PTA work and laundry tonight.

Another day in this happy life!

  • Five pies for the Relief Society meeting tonight (I’m excited about the theme – women in the scriptures). The pies still need some whipped cream.

And I accompanied Deuce the RoughRiders mascot at dismissal to remind the kids that tickets are due tomorrow.

That, plus speech, a doctor’s apptmt for Jacob, a lunch date with Jacob and Samuel and lots of trek reunion emails.

    It’s all in a day’s work! A good day.

  • We sure love this silly dog.  Despite the fact that she chews on everything – the blinds, the baseboards, our table, our shoes, our toys, etc, etc, etc!!  She sure is sweet though (who knew I would ever love a dog?!).  And a great little companion.  And despite her jumping and excitability, she is so patient and good with the boys – even when Samuel tries to step on her or squeeze her ears just a little too hard – she takes it.  And when it's just me and her (and the kids are asleep) she'll growl at anything that moves.  She's already very protective!  We love our Maggie!

I was so sad that this picture was blurry because I think it's so cute and captures life so well – Samuel with a big grin and Maggie chewing on her rawhide bone (on a pillow – she's spoiled):

And here she is with me after a bath:

  • Samuel started riding his bike last week – we had introduced it several weeks ago, but he just this week got the hang of it and took off.  Now he's chasing his brothers everywhere on it!  Braking well and going fast.  All of our boys have loved bikes.  And it's fun to watch them gain confidence on it.

This is the same bike that Jacob got when he was 3.  And it was passed down to Caleb when he was 3, and now Samuel at 3 also.  It's a great little training bike – it has served us well!  I couldn't resist these side-by-side pictures of Caleb (left) and Samuel (right) on the bike.  I wish I could find the ones of Jacob – but they're tucked away in a scrapbook (film, not digital!).
