My great-grandfather was William Andrew Robinson.  His first wife was Effie Hancock, who died in December of 1903.  They had 4 girls…Neva Irene, Lila Jo (her grandson was at our recent family reunion), Ina, and Mary Lucille.  Mary Lucille Robinson was their youngest and she died when she was only 17.  At the time they were living in Celina, TX…and “Daddy Bill”, as he was called, bought plots in the Old Celina Cemetery.  He later married Una Vay King (who was my great-grandmother) in 1906 and they had 7 children, 2 of whom died as infants.  One of their children was my grandpa, Byron.

On Sunday we drove the short distance up to Celina to find Effie and Mary Lucille’s graves.  Public records show that Daddy Bill bought a plot for himself and is buried there as well, but we don’t believe that to be true.  We hope to find where he is buried (maybe Sherman?).  We were successful!  And it was so neat to stand where my ancestors stood.  Effie died in Dec of 1903 (according to the gravestone…but a book says Jan of 1904) and has a beautiful plot underneath a tree.  Her gravestone is worn and we had to feel the numbers with our hands to make sure we were reading them correctly.  Mary Lucille and I share the same initials (my maiden name was Meredith Louise Robinson)…MLR.  Although these two are not “blood” relatives, my great-grandfather loved them, and so I feel a special connection to them.
