hoppin’ down the bunny trail!

(Note: please do not read this if you are a member of PETA or a bunny-activist.  You will regret it.)

We have a rabbit.  A rabbit that is coming in to our backyard and eating our beautiful plants and leaves.

I can’t tell you what this does to our blood pressure…Here’s the story:

In our old house there was a bunny infestation.  They were EVERYWHERE.  One of the main reasons for moving was to leave the bunnies!  They drove us crazy…they made nests in our backyard and pooped all over the grass. ALL OVER.  They ate all of our plants.  They chewed thru things like soccer nets and even Christmas lights.  Christmas lights!  And no matter how hard you tried to keep them out…and believe me we tried…they came back again and again, always to the same spots.  And they had babies – lots and lots of babies.  We do not have kind feelings for bunnies.  Not at all.

And they followed us.  It’s been 2 and 1/2 years.  We thought we were bunny-free.  But NO!  They have found us and are trying to regain control in our backyard.  And we are livid.

Derek has been begging for me to allow him to use the bb gun.  He had wanted to do this in our old house, and I could never bring myself to it.  But…I’m there.  Pull out the big guns.

We will not be held captive by these furry beasts again.

You have rabbits we have squirles and jim keeps saying he is going to get out his bb gun. But so far he just sends the dog out to chase them. Maybe that’s what you need is a DOG. Or barrow one of Dana’s. Doris

You can rent humane traps from a famous pest guy in Plano. He has guaranteed sweet jam-like stuff that you put in the trap. When they enter, a door closes behind them and they are trapped. Then, you take the bunny (in the trap) far, FAR away from your home to a big open field where the coyotes run and take care of the problem for you.
So far, we’ve trapped and “relocated” several bunnies in our home-owning years. It worked for us…

good tip about the traps; Mer, I’d think REALLY long and hard about the dog.
