I love Sundays. In our faith, we treat Sunday as a Sabbath Day…a Holy Day. We choose not to purchase things, go out to the mall or out to eat. We choose to spend it as a family, with extended family or friends. We don’t let the kids go play with friends down the street and we watch limited tv. We don’t expect the same from everyone, but it is what is right for us. Even other people in our church have different standards for this day based on their own feelings and beliefs.
I can’t always say that it is "reverent" around here. Or that we’re good at keeping our own standards. In fact, right now the boys and Derek are ambushing each other with fake guns. But I am so grateful to have a day that is separate from the week. A day of worship. A day of family. A day of rest. A day where we take a break from the worries and work of the week and just enjoy each other. I feel like it anchors us. And helps us grow closer as a family.
I’m grateful for Sundays.
