Ok…so here it comes, another fun year of school.  Jacob’s thrilled and I’m ready for him to have some more structure.  This summer has been hard on all of us and it feels good to be putting it behind us.

Tonight we’ll go to Meet the Teacher Night.  There will be sign-up sheets galore that will be staring me in the face asking me to put my name on them.  So I’m doing some self-affirmations today…they go like this.

"Just because no one’s name is on the paper does not mean you have to put yours there."

"There is no need to feel guilt…you are having a baby.  You have enough guilt as it is…why add more?"

"No you don’t need to justify why you’re not putting your name on every paper just because you’ve been sick and in bed.  Saying NO is enough."

Those are just a few of my pep talks today!  Never mind the fact that I am the PTA Historian and have to attend monthly Board Meetings and take pictures at all PTA events and tonight I’ll be manning the Membership Table at Meet-the-Teacher Night!  I still worry that the urge will come and I won’t be armed and ready.  For all I know they need a Facilities Manager to clean the toilets this year. ๐Ÿ™‚  And no matter what, I will NOT look at the marquee tonight.

If NO is too hard–just say “I’d love to, but I’m already committed to giving my best as the PTA Historian.” Remember it takes baby steps to break a habit!!
