So, it’s no secret that I like my shows.  I don’t watch all day, I don’t watch all the time, but I do have my favorites.  And I do find that watching TV in the evenings is a good way for me to wind down and block out all of the "mommy, mommy" noises that are reverberating in my head.

But lo and behold, I have things I have to do.  Meetings to attend, responsibilities, etc, in the evenings.  It should be sacred-don’t-mess-with-me-when-LOST-is-on time, but it’s not.

I need DVR.

I need it.

I need it for American Idol.  For LOST.  For The Amazing Race.  NEED it.

Derek doesn’t watch tv.

AT ALL.

Never.

Has no shows.

He thinks I’m a TV-aholic.

I tell him that I am low on the "holic" chart, but he just doesn’t get the need for shows.

I need a full-on campaign launched on my behalf…explaining our need for DVR.  Otherwise, he’s just going to continue to ignore me on this.

Please send e-mails or post comments defending my cause.

Think of all the time you save by skipping through the commercials! I haven’t seen an episode of LOST since I got this calling–I figure I’ll have a LOST marathon this summer when life slows down! I know–tell Derek you’ll also be able to record Conference which is a great resource for a Bishopric member for lessons and talks 🙂 Good Luck!

What about the perfectly good VCR.. I’m told those work for recording. I think it is cheaper to pay for the community college class on “VCR Programming” then it is to buy a DVR….
Plus, sometimes commercials are better then the shows!

i got totally hoooked on dvr at my parents’ house in utah. i’m going through withdrawls (from a lot of things, actually). it’s so nice! i will definitely be looking into it for our house. but it probably won’t happen for a while. for now the trusty old vcr and my remembering to record will have to suffice.
